A Leeper man died several hours after a fire broke out early Friday at his residence along Route 36.
Clarion County Coroner Randall Stom identified the victim as George F. Maxton III, 73.
Clarion County 911 said the blaze broke out at 12:11 a.m. Friday, and Maxton was pronounced dead at 8:40 a.m.
Volunteer firefighters from Farmington Township, Washington Township, Marienville and Sigel were at the scene along with Clarion Hospital EMS and Marienville state police.
Efforts to reach firefighters for more information about the blaze were unsuccessful Friday afternoon.
