Union High School blood drive to provide potential scholarship

From staff reports

The American Red Cross blood drive at Union High School has provided a new incentive for high school students.

If the blood drive reaches its goal of at least 30 pints of blood being donated, a senior at the high school will be awarded a $250 educational scholarship to further their education after graduation.

The May 7 blood drive will run from noon to 5 p.m. in the auxiliary gym of the Union High School. The event is being sponsored by the Rimersburg Lions Club with the assistance of the Union High School National Honor Society students.

Representatives from the school will determine the scholarship recipient based on Red Cross recommended criteria.

Individuals can easily schedule an appointment to give blood at the school by visiting redcrossblood.org or by calling the American Red Cross at (800) 733-2767.
