Forest courthouse will remain closed through end of year

From staff reports

The Forest County Courthouse will be closed to the public through the end of the year, county commissioners announced Friday.

Essential services are still operational, and staff may be reached via email and by leaving phone messages, the commissioners said.

A date for reopening will be discussed nearer to the end of the year, commissioners added.

“The commissioners continue to make decisions resulting in closures based on their concern for the health and safety of their employees as well as the public they serve,” a press release said.

The commissioners’ next public meeting is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, and a special meeting to approve the 2021 budget is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23. Both meeting will be held by teleconference.

The number to call for anyone wishing to attend is (605) 475-5900, and the code to participate is 627777#.

The county’s 2021 budget is available for inspection on the county’s website at www.co.forest.pa.us.
