Forest ATV trail open for the season

From staff reports

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service has opened all-terrain vehicle and off-highway motorcycle trails in the Allegheny National Forest for the summer riding season.

The season runs through Sept. 24.

Daily or annual permits are required to operate ATVs, utility terrain vehicles and OHMs on the 109-mile motorized trail system.

Information on how to purchase and display a permit is available on the Forest website on the “Recreation Passes and Permits” page.

Riders are encouraged to consider their skill level when evaluating whether to use any trail. Forest Service staff will monitor motorized trail conditions and post information on their website and social media channels when ATV and OHM trails open or close.

Riders should verify the open status and trail conditions before using the trails.
