Clarion Summer Fest continues this weekend

From staff reports

Clarion Summer Fest will host “Celebrate Hometown,” its second weekend festival event, from Friday to Sunday.

Highlights of the festival will be an open mic night, brewery concerts and events, pop-up shops with local food vendors, and a first-ever “hometown scavenger hunt for kids” on Saturday.

Clarion Main Street businesses will host more than 15 pop-up shops that will feature honey smoothies, fresh flowers, handmade mugs, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry and works of art, all from local makers.

People can join the scavenger hunt by taking cell phone pictures around town and posting them on Facebook. The child with the most “likes” will receive a gift package including a silver dollar Buffalo coin compliments of Destination Clarion Downtown.

Free ice cream cones will be given to the first 50 participants.

The participants will receive instructions at the Clarion Summer Fest tent between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Open mic night hosted by Samantha Sears begins at 5 p.m. Saturday. Anyone who wants to perform is asked to contact C93 Radio at c93clarion@gmail.com to sign-up.

Clarion’s three local craft breweries will host a brewery crawl and special events to celebrate the festival.

On Sunday, people can join the Clarion Area Chamber of Commerce for “I LOVE Clarion” festivities at the Clarion Mall.

Special events will begin at 4 p.m., and the evening will conclude with fireworks around 9:45 p.m.
