Shippenville man arrested on drug, firearms charges

From staff reports

A Shippenville man was arrested in Sugarcreek Borough on drug and firearms charges after police pulled over a vehicle in which he was a passenger.

Ryne Michael Kean, 25, was found to have a warrant in Clarion County when the vehicle was stopped by Sugarcreek police for an inoperative headlight at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

Officers found a pistol in Kean’s coat along with a spare magazine, a black hood and black gloves, according to a criminal complaint. Officers also found several needles, some containing clear fluid.

When asked, Kean said the fluid was methamphetamine and that he wasn’t supposed to have the pistol, the complaint said.

Officers also found various pills and powders and a glass smoking pipe.

Kean was charged with two felony firearms violations as he was carrying a firearm without a license and isn’t permitted to possess a firearm, police said. He was also charged with two misdemeanor counts each of prohibited acts and possessing instruments of crime.

Kean was denied bail and placed in the Venango County jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Nov. 28 in Central Court.
