Many Clarion officials take oath of office

Clarion County Judge Sarah Seidle-Patton conducted a swearing-in ceremony Tuesday for elected county and municipal officials, school board members, and election workers.

About 60 officials attended the ceremony. Others had been sworn in earlier at different venues.

“I want to thank you for your service to our communities,” Seidle-Patton said. “These positions are very important to the functioning of our local communities. It is important for us to have people like you willing to dedicate your time to make sure that our governments function the way they are intended to function.”

The judge administered the oath of office to the three county officials first — coroner Dan Shingledecker, treasurer Karyn Montana and sheriff Shawn Zerfoss. She also gave the oath to the chief deputy sheriff and the deputy treasurer.

Oaths were then given to the municipal and election officials. Seidle-Patton observed after the ceremony that all the election workers were female.

“This was my first swearing-in ceremony,” the judge said. “I was away last year so this was my first ceremony. It was enjoyable.”
