Forest County couple killed in 2-vehicle crash

A Forest County couple were killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Route 62 in Hickory Township.

Marienville state police identified the victims as Larry Carnahan 79, and Dorothy Carnahan, 80. The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. near the couple’s residence.

Marienville state police said Larry Carnahan was entering the highway from a parked position along the southbound shoulder of Route 62 where the Carnahans were getting their mail. Police said the second vehicle involved in the crash was driven by Michael Okruch, 45, of Russell, and was headed north on Route 62.

Police said Larry Carnahan pulled directly into the path of Okruch’s vehicle as Carnahan was trying to enter his driveway. Okruch’s vehicle then struck the passenger side of Carnahan’s vehicle, pushing it off the east side of the roadway, police said.

The Carnahans’ vehicle hit a culvert and overturned before coming to rest in a lawn, police said.

Dorothy Carnahan died at the scene from her injuries, and Larry Carnahan was transported by ambulance to Titusville Area Hospital but died en route to the hospital.

Okruch wasn’t injured, police said.
