Clarion County road projects scheduled to begin next week

PennDOT plans to start a roadway rehabilitation project on Route 68 in Monroe Township, Clarion County, on Tuesday, weather permitting.

Work will include widening sections of Route 68 for traffic safety and new guiderail installation along with rehabilitation work and safety enhancements to the bridge over Piney Run Creek.

A traffic signal will be set up to facilitate alternating traffic directions due to lane closure for bridge and roadway construction. Traffic stoppages will occur within the lane closure time frame for critical and sensitive operations for short duration’s as necessary to operations.

The work done on Route 68 will be about 4 miles south of I-80 in the town of Reidsburg between Over Road and Stoney Lonesome Road.

Crews from Francis J. Palo will conduct the work on the $4,543,739 project, which is anticipated to be completed by December.

Bridge project to start

The South Leatherwood Bridge replacement project on Route 861 over Leatherwood Creek in Porter Township, Clarion County, will begin Monday, PennDOT said.

Work will include the replacement of an existing arch culvert with a single span concrete bulb-tee bridge. The bridge will be constructed in half widths.

The roadway will be open to single lane traffic in place of a detour. Daytime flagging will be performed prior to the installation of a temporary signal.

The work done on Route 861 is located between Curllsville Road and Falls Road.

Crews from Clearwater Construction will conduct the work on the $2,191,000 project, which is expected to be completed by November.
