Clarion Co. planners OK proposed Miles development

The Clarion County Planning Commission on Wednesday approved a proposed new development in Clarion Borough.

Miles Brothers LLC is proposing a 224,560-square-foot industrial building. The project also includes a 34,000-square-foot parking lot with 144 parking spaces.

Miles Brothers is owned and operated by three brothers – Ryan, Curtis and Theron Miles.

The Glassworks project is converting a 28.5-acre brownfield site that formerly housed the Owens-Illinois glass plant into Glassworks Business Park, a compound with seven building pads ready for business development.

The pads would be suitable for office, warehouse or light industrial use by installing utilities, lighting, and water and sewer infrastructure, and by excavating, grading and paving the sites.

The application said the Clarion County Conservation District and the Department of Environmental Protection have approved the stormwater management plan and the erosion and sedimentation control plan for the development.

The entrance to the proposed development has a 24-foot-wide paved cartway. The proposed internal service road around the building will have a gravel surface.

Pennsylvania American Water will provide water and sewage to the site.

Copies of the application were sent to Clarion Borough Council for approval.
