Clarion County commissioners on Tuesday approved two new contracts with Mobilcom to improve emergency services communication.

The first contract approved at their meeting was to provide and install a new licensed microwave link between Clarion Office of Emergency Service and Trinity Point. The value of the contract is $20,144, with a $170 monthly maintenance fee.

The second approved contract was to install a similar system between Trinity Point and Knox. The cost of the second contract will cost $21,144, with a monthly maintenance fee of $170.

The previous systems weren’t licensed. Ron Wolbert, director of 911 services, said that without a license anyone would have been able to install a radio and interrupt communication with OES.

Commissioners also approved a modification to Community Development Block Grant funding to allow the use of leftover money for a 2013 East Brady Sewer project to finish a similar project started in 2015.

The earlier project was completed on Second Street; the new project is on First Street. The modification allows $126,435 to be transferred to the new project, which was previously awarded $75,492.
