CLARION – Clarion University will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Eagle Commons on Clarion’s campus.

This year’s theme is “Love and Courage.”

The event is open to the community.

Brenda Dede, associate vice president of academic affairs at the university, will be guest speaker. She will look back at King’s legacy and apply it to how everyone can learn to get along by pursuing common goals together.

“We are one,” Dede said. “Sure, there are factors that divide us, but he said it was important that we all put those things aside and come together,” she added.

“This breakfast is important, first of all, because of the legacy Dr. King left and what he meant to the American people, in general, and the African American people, in particular,” Dede said. “Also, with the recent political and social climate in the United States, it’s important that we continue to expose his legacy and quest for all people to get along, particularly the American people.”

Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door. Reservations can be made by emailing to rsvp@clarion.edu.

Parking will be available in the lots near Eagle Commons.

The breakfast is sponsored by Clarion University and Clarion community organizations, charities and churches.
