Thompson to host Clarion summit on Opportunity Zone

From staff reports

U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson will hold an Opportunity Zone summit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday at Clarion University’s Gemmell Student Center Multi Purpose Room.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 established the Opportunity Zone program to revitalize economically distressed communities using private investments through tax incentives.

A release from Thompson’s office said the summit is an opportunity for small business owners, investors, local stakeholders and others to learn more about Opportunity Zones and their incentives.

Other participants include Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson, president of Clarion University; Joe DeFelice, Housing and Urban Development assistant deputy secretary for the Mid-Atlantic region; Scott Deitrich, Department of Community and Economic Development project manager for Gov. Tom Wolf’s action team; Jeni Cooper, vice president for community development banking for PNC; and Amy Keth, assistant director of Clarion University Small Business Development Center.
