Several candidates attend Clarion Chamber legislative breakfast

The Clarion Chamber of Labor and Industry held its annual spring legislative breakfast Friday.

Among those in attendance were the four Republican candidates vying were the GOP nomination in Tuesday’s primary for the 63rd District seat in the state House.

The four hopefuls — Josh Bashline, Clay Kennemuth, Lisa Kerle and Darlene Smail — answered several questions from the audience.

Pat Ritchie, the lone Democrat on the ballot, didn’t attend.

Current representative Donna Oberlander, a Republican, isn’t seeking re-election.

Josh Womer, the lone Democrat on the ballot for the 15th District seat in the U.S. House, also attended the breakfast.

Womer, who is from State College, took questions from the audience after his opening statement.

Incumbent Glenn Thompson, the lone GOP candidate for the 15th District seat, did not attend because the House is currently in session.

A statement from Thompson was read at the breakfast that said the congressman is proceeding with his prostate cancer treatment and hasn’t missed a voting session in Congress since his diagnosis.

Oberlander and state Sen. Scott Hutchinson also attended the breakfast. Hutchinson is unopposed on the GOP ticket Tuesday in his re-election bid.
