Police seek man facing 856 sexual assault charges

State police are asking for the public’s help in location Garrick Landon Bloom, 46, Shippenville, after he was charged with 865 counts of varying sexual assault offenses.

As of Monday morning, Jan. 28, Bloom had not been taken into custody.

Bloom is a white male, five-feet, five-inches tall, weighing about 300 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Bloom usually wears glasses.

Anyone with any information about Bloom’s whereabouts is asked to contact state police at (814) 226-1710.

Bloom is charged with sexually assaulting a male juvenile numerous times between Jan. 17, 2007, and Feb. 18, 2012.

State police Tpr. Vaughn R. Norbert filed charges against Bloom after receiving a report Oct. 25, 2018, from Clarion County Children & Youth Services. CYS reported the victim was being inappropriately touched by Bloom.

State police interviewed the victim, who alleged Bloom forced him into oral sex when the victim was about 5 years old. The victim alleged the forced activity continued until he was about 14 years old.

The victim indicated incidents took place on Bloom’s couch while the victim was in Bloom’s residence.

Bloom was questioned about the incident and allegedly first denied the claims. Bloom later informed state police he would go to state police barracks and answer question of his own volition.

Bloom allegedly admitted to teaching the victim about oral sex and recounted how the incidents occurred. Bloom allegedly wouldn’t provide the number of times the incidents occurred.

Bloom is charged with 216 counts of raping a child, 216 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, 216 counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child and 120 counts of statutory sexual assault of a person 11 years old or older, all first-degree felonies; 96 counts of statutory sexual assault, a second-degree felony; one count of endangering the welfare of children, a third-degree felony.
