Pennsylvania Bird Atlas program scheduled at Clarion Library

From staff reports

The third annual Pennsylvania Bird Atlas, a citizen science effort undertaken by the state, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Clarion Library, where guest speaker Alejandra Lewandowski will explain how the project works and share tips from her experience with other lasting efforts.

Funded primarily by the state Game Commission, with support from Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton and the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology, the data about population status and distribution of Pennsylvania birds is designed to inform on conservation efforts.

Participation in the atlas is open to the public. Advanced knowledge of birds is not required.

The Seneca Rocks Audubon Society’s free spring program will cover how participants can get involved.
