Officials aren’t sure how long county buildings will be closed

Clarion County officials don’t know how long the current shutdown of county buildings will last.

County commissioners announced Monday the buildings are now closed to the public and will only be available by appointment until further notice.

Sheriff Rex Munsee said his office is open to issue gun permits, but people should call first.

People admitted to the buildings must wear facemasks and observe social distancing, the county said.

“We have a couple of cases of COVID within the county,” Clarion County Administrator Jill Stephens said Tuesday. “There may have been five people but there is the possibility of more because of the people they were in contact with. We don’t have those results back yet,” she added.

Stephens said “we are taking these precautions to keep our employees and community safe.”

“We don’t know how long we will be shutting down the county buildings,” said Stephens. “It might just be for this week. It depends on when the test results come back.”
