North Clarion sets Veterans Day assembly

LEEPER – North Clarion School District will hold its annual Veterans Day assembly at 1 p.m. Monday in the high school gymnasium and at Veterans Memorial Park located between the high school and elementary buildings.

The Junior Historians officers will preside over the assembly.

Ted Pappas, former teacher and high school principal of North Clarion, will be the keynote speaker.

At the assembly, students from the elementary and high schools will participate by singing patriotic songs and reciting poems to honor the veterans.

Sophomore Jackson W. Bell will be recognized for adding a flag disposal receptacle at the memorial as part of his Eagle Scout project.

At the conclusion of the assembly, guests and students will gather outside at the North Clarion Veterans Park area for a special ceremony to honor deceased local veterans.

Senior high band members will play “American Celebration” by Gerald Sebesky at the park. The ceremony will also include the laying of a wreath by members of the VFW Post No. 2145, a gun salute and posting of colors presented by members of the American Legion, Post 66, and the playing of “Taps” by North Clarion students.

Junior Historians officers will host a luncheon at noon for veterans in the high school library prior to the assembly. The assembly is open to the public.
