PennDOT has announced plans for the rehabilitation of two bridges in Clarion County, the
Clarion River Bridge in Monroe and Paint Townships and the Wayne Richard Weaver Bridge in Clarion Borough and Highland Township.
PennDOT said the purpose of the project is to address “identified deficiencies” on the I-80 Bridge. PennDOT said the bridge requires steel repairs to stringers and floor beams, replacing the deck joints and spot painting to increase the service life of the existing bridge.
PennDOT said that there would be no changes to the existing curb-to-curb width on the road. Traffic will be maintained via single lane closures in each direction.
No cost estimate for the project was available.
The second project will preserve the 615 Weaver (Miola) Bridge carrying N. Fifth Avenue and the Miola Road across the Clarion River.
PennDOT said the work will involve preserving the existing bridge with deck repairs, deck overlay, joint replacements, approach slab replacements, spot painting, guiderail improvements, pier and abutment concrete spall repairs and about 250 feet of approach roadway construction. The lanes and shoulders will remain unchanged.
Work is scheduled to begin April 2024 and be completed in October 2024. During construction a single, alternating lane and traffic signals will be utilized. The estimated cost of the project is $1.6 million.
