The third annual Hawthorn Volunteer Fire Department Kayak and Canoe Poker Run will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 2 at the Hawthorn boat launch located near Pottery Field adjacent to the Hawthorn Bridge.
This event is approximately nine miles in length on the Redbank Creek from Summerville to Hawthorn with a first prize of $500.00.
Registration is $20 for adults and $5 for those children under 18 years of age. Everyone pre-registering will receive an event T-shirt.
Launch can happen anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the bridge in Summerville. Shuttle service is available from Hawthorn.
A picnic lunch is included at the finish.
