Fire heavily damages Clarion apartments

Fire heavily damaged an apartment complex at the corner of Wood Street and Seventh Avenue Wednesday night in Clarion.

Clarion Fire and Hose Co. No. 1 was summoned to 68 South Seventh Avenue at 11:06 p.m. July 20. Firefighters from Strattanville and Limestone Township soon joined the effort.

State police Fire Marshal Tyler Thompson from the Clearfield barracks was on the scene around 7 a.m. Thursday morning as Clarion firefighters began to depart the scene.

Thompson said the cause of the fire has not been determined and the investigation is ongoing. It appeared the fire started in an upstairs apartment. There are five apartments in the building.

Clarion Fire and Hose No. 1 Chief Doug Preston said there were no reported injuries during the fire.

A damage estimate was not available Thursday morning.

The name of the owner of the building and the tenants were not immediately available Thursday morning.
