CLEARFIELD, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man has been convicted of charges after his ex-girlfriend killed herself.
WJAC-TV reports a Clearfield jury convicted Brian Schaffer Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter and possession with intent to deliver in the January 2015 death of Ameyanna Sanchez.
The (DuBois) Courier-Express reports the 44-year-old Luthersburg man broke up with Sanchez several months before her death.
Authorities say Sanchez died from a gunshot wound to the head in her DuBois home after spending days using methamphetamine and alcohol with Schaffer and Kevin Mongan. She had been hearing voices in her head.
Schaffer says he unloaded his pistol, put the gun to his head and squeezed the trigger during an argument with Sanchez.
He says he loaded it after Sanchez took the gun and watched her shoot herself.
