Emergency crews search in Cook Forest for missing Clarion woman

From staff reports

A Clarion Borough woman who had been reported missing by her family late Tuesday night had not been located as of about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Andrea Guntrum

Clarion Borough police chief William H. Peck identified the woman as Andrea Leigh Guntrum, 43.

Peck told the newspaper Wednesday evening that his department took the missing person report from Guntrum’s family at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Her vehicle was found at about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday near the Cook Forest State Park fire tower on Fire Tower Road, near Route 36, prompting the search, according to park manager Ryan Borcz’s office.

Peck said numerous emergency departments, led by the park police, searched for Guntrum all day Wednesday in the area of the park where her vehicle was found.

At the same time, Clarion Borough police were conducting an investigation into Guntrum’s disappearance, Peck said.

Also involved in the search were state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources rangers, volunteer fire departments from Farmington Township, Sigel, Marienville and Emlenton; and Clarion state police, according to Borcz.

Search-and-rescue dog teams also scoured the area, and the entrance to Fire Tower Road is closed until the search is complete.

Peck said anyone who may have information that could help police or aid in the search is asked to call Clarion Borough police at (814) 226-9140.
