The Sligo Hometown Heroes committee is accepting donations for a monument honoring the men and women in the Sligo area who served in all branches of the armed forces.
They plan to place a monument next spring in front of the Sligo Borough office (recreation center) in Sligo if enough donations are received.
Their Hometown Heroes banner program has been a huge success and the committee has decided to add Curllsville to the program next year. The program will continue to add veterans until April 1.
Contact any committee member to add a veteran banner for a loved one. The fee is $125 per banner. Anyone who already has a banner for 2017 will need to pay a $10 maintenance feel to hold their place for 2018.
Banners not being placed next year can be picked up Nov. 13, when the current banners are taken down. The committee will store banners to be placed next spring.
