Clarion woodland owner conference set Feb. 10

The annual Clarion woodland owner conference will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Grunenwald Science & Technology Center on the PennWest-Clarion campus.

Admission is $15 per person, and pre-registration is required. The deadline to register is Feb. 2.

The fee includes refreshments, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Penn State Extension is conducting the conference in partnership with the DCNR Bureau of Forestry and Clarion County Forest Stewardship Committee.

There will be five sessions that will provide information for Pennsylvania’s forest landowners.

Topics include old growth forests in Cook Forest, how to grow more birds in a forest, tree and log quality, strategies for managing invasive plants, and chronic wasting disease in whitetail deer.

Speakers will be from Penn State Extension, DCNR Bureau of Forestry, Pennsylvania Game Commission and Erie Bird Observatory.
