Clarion names new dean for arts-sciences college

From staff reports

Laura Delbrugge will serve as Clarion University’s next dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, starting July 1.

“We are excited to have Dr. Laura Delbrugge join us as the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences,” said Pam Gent, provost and vice president of academic affairs at the college. “Laura was selected as a result of a robust year-long national search. She is forward thinking and a solutions-based leader who understands the realities of higher education,” Gent said.

Delbrugge joins Clarion from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she served as a tenured professor of Spanish and as chair of the Department of Foreign Languages. She has worked there since 1998, but also worked as an assistant professor at Clarion from 1997-1998.

“I’m very excited to be coming back to Clarion and getting to know everyone at the university and especially everyone in the College of Arts and Sciences,” Delbrugge said.

While at IUP, she was a participant in the Emerging Leaders Program through the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and worked on IUP’s Reaffirmation of Accreditation from 2013-2016.
