Clarion County shows support for industrial park

From staff reports

Clarion County commissioners have offered their “full support” for an industrial park in Butler County.

In a letter to Congressman Glenn Thompson, the commissioners requested funding for the Allegheny-Clarion Valley Business Park’s sewer and water compliance project.

The park, located along Interstate 80, is situated about two miles west of Clarion County in Allegheny Township. Companies located in the park include Pennwest Homes, Mid-Atlantic Youth Services Corporation, UEP Parker, Allegheny Structural Components, Gardenscape, GES Graphiteand McNany Trucking.

The sewer plant that serves the park is operating under a consent order from the Department of Environmental Protection. The plant needs to be upgraded to meet new state standards.

Clarion commissioner Wayne Brosius noted that one-third of the people who work in the industrial park are Clarion County residents.
