Clarion County making plans for property auction

Clarion County may finally have an opportunity to clean house.

County commissioners said Tuesday at their work session that an auction, originally planned in the spring, might finally get a green light.

The county had planned for an auction of used vehicles and equipment, but that was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The county’s Human Services department has seven automobiles that will be disposed of. Two of the vehicles have been sitting for years and one is not drivable.

There are also two sheriff’s vehicles, a snowplow, some old office equipment and an emergency vehicle.

The vehicles are currently being stored at the county park.

Other equipment will be sold at the same time, and that equipment includes an icemaker and coolers from the former Holabaugh beer distributor on River Hill.

The 8,000 square foot Holabaugh building was purchased for $150,000 and will be used for equipment and record storage.

The county has other, unspecified equipment from other projects that will be included in the auction.

Final plans for the auction are expected to be revealed at the commissioners business meeting next week.
