Clarion Co. adds to virus total; state reports 1,029 new cases

The state Department of Health on Saturday announced Clarion County reported one new probable case of COVID-19, giving the county 121 total cases.

Clarion County also reclassified one confirmed case as probable, bringing the number of confirmed cases down to 102 and raising the number of probable cases to 19, according to the state.

Venango County, the state said, stands at 84 total cases (67 confirmed and 17 probable) and Forest County holds at 15 cases (12 confirmed and three probable).

Crawford County, the state said, reported one new probable case, giving the county 304 total cases (252 confirmed and 52 probable).

Mercer County, the state said, reported five new cases (four confirmed and one probable), giving the county 725 total cases (648 confirmed and 77 probable).

The state on Saturday reported 1,029 new statewide positive cases, 223 more than the number reported Friday, raising the total number of cases to 155,232 (150,393 confirmed and 4,839 probable). There are 10,595 cases among health care workers.

The latest number of new positive cases reported Saturday ends a six day streak of fewer than 1,000 additional cases.

Fewer than 1,000 additional cases have been reported in 132 of the past 146 days.

Statewide, there were 22 new deaths reported Saturday, raising the total to 8,103, the state said.

Care facilities

– A nursing and personal care facilities chart, a cumulative table compiled by the state that is updated daily, continues to show Venango County with five resident cases and fewer than five employee cases at one unnamed facility.

That same chart also continues to show 18 resident cases, 15 employee cases and one death reported among three unnamed facilities in Clarion County.

To date, there have been no nursing and personal care facilities COVID-19 cases reported from Forest County.

– Statewide data on nursing and personal care facilities show there are now 22,680 resident cases and 4,988 cases among employees for a total of 27,668 cases at 973 distinct facilities in 61 counties.

-The state said there are a total of 5,430 deaths that have been reported from nursing and personal care facilities.

Recovery rate and testing

– The state continues to report a recovery rate of 82%.

– The number of statewide tests administered between Sept. 19 and Friday is 182,437, including 5,520 positive results, according to the state.

– The number of people in the tri-county area who have tested negative for the virus, the state said, is 8,637. Statewide, there have been 1,830,292 people who have tested negative.
