Clarion Career Center holds senior honors program

The Clarion County Career Center held its annual senior recognition program May 23 at the Clarion High School auditorium.

The Class of 2019 had 106 seniors who were recognized at the awards ceremony.

Forty-three students were recognized for achieving an advanced score on the NOCTI exam. NOCTI is a performance assessment which allows students to demonstrate their acquired skills by completing actual jobs using the tools, materials, machines and equipment required in their program/occupation.

Top seniors of each program were selected by their instructors. They were awarded $200 and in some cases, additional prizes related to their program. The top seniors were:

Morgan Bish, Clarion-Limestone – Allied Health

Kolton Bish, Redbank Valley – Automotive

Lucy Kline, Clarion – Culinary Arts

Seth Weber, Keystone – Computer Networking

Sarah Zeigler, Clarion – Cosmetology

Joseph Dehart, Allegheny-Clarion Valley – Construction

Ian Jordan, Allegheny-Clarion Valley – Diesel

Jason Smith, Redbank Valley – Police Science

Jonathan Sherwin, Allegheny-Clarion Valley – Welding

Other awards included:

Michael & Marie Zacherl Outstanding Diesel Technology Student – Ian Jordan

Thomas B. Burkhardt Rotary Scholarship – Robert Schick, Keystone

Rotary District 7280 Outstanding Vocational Student – Chase Kline, Union

Mary Kay Hartle Most Outstanding Student Award – Jonathan Sherwin, A-C Valley

Ron Perry Volunteerism Award – Jessica Finland, Keystone

Odd Fellows Home of Western PA Citizenship Scholarship – Joshua Thompson, Redbank Valley

Pennsylvania Builders Association Outstanding Student Award – Joseph Dehart (who also received a Milwaukee power drill); the PBA also awarded Levi Walker of A-C Valley and Jakob Wareham of Clarion-Limestone with Marshalltown tools.

The following students were recognized for their plans to enter the military after graduation: Alexander Stitt, Caleb Snyder and Josie Rupp, Air Force; Brandin Dull, Donald Dunkle, Kolton Beight and Jason Smith, Army; Brylea Theiss, Army Reserves; Drake Knopp, Navy; and Theodore Lessner, Marines.
