For the past four years, the Knight Cruisers have been holding a cruise for a cause. The cause is the Clarion Hospital’s Cancer Center’s sunshine fund.

Jean Ehrhart, one of the event organizers, said about 30 club members volunteered to help at the cruise-in.

“Up to this point we have raised over $62,000 in the first three years. This year my goal is $38,000. That would put us over $100,000 in four years,” she said.

Planning for this year’s event, which was held Saturday at the Clarion Airport, got underway in February.

“We do a lot on social media, posters, and we contacted close to 300 businesses in both Clarion and Jefferson counties. It’s a lot of work,” Ehrhart said.

“We have done a show every year for four years. In the pandemic we had to move it from June to August. We did one though. “We figured if nothing else, we would do a protest against cancer since you can have a million people at a protest.”

Lori Miller, a member of the Knight Cruisers said about 129 cars were registered for this year’s show. Bonnie Ehrhart, another member of the Knight Cruisers, said last year there were 170 cars, which was unusual because the pandemic kept everybody at home.
