Wood carving show at The Sawmill Center for the Arts

COOKSBURG — The Sawmill Center for the Arts will hold its annual Wood Carving Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 15-16.  This is the 33rd year for this festival that features the talents of artists who carve wood by hand.   A $2 admission fee allows the public to view the sculptures, which will be judged prior to the show.

Any carver interested in entering his or her work into the Wood Carving Show may do so for $5 per piece.

The Sawmill Center will hold a beginners’ wood carving course during the week prior to the show.  Jim O’Dea will instruct on Tuesday through Thursday, July 11-13.  People should pre-register by
calling the Sawmill Center at (814) 927-6655.  The course fee is $225.

Another class will be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 17-21.  Bob Stadtlander will teach relief carving.  The fee for this course is $330.
