Venango, Clarion add 21 virus cases

The state Department of Health on Friday announced a combined 21 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from Venango and Clarion counties, as well as one new virus-related death from Venango County.

The additional death raised Venango County’s total to 89.

Venango County, the state said, also reported 14 new cases (three confirmed and 11 probable) and Clarion County reported seven new cases (two confirmed and five probable).

Venango County, the state said, now has a cumulative total of 3,447 cases (2,770 confirmed and 677 probable).

Clarion County, the state said, now has a cumulative total of 2,732 cases (1,748 confirmed and 984 probable). The county’s total deaths stand at 86.

Forest County, the state said, stands at a cumulative total of 1,386 cases (1,331 confirmed and 55 probable). The county’s total deaths stand at 21.

Elsewhere in the region

Crawford County, the state said, reported one additional virus-related death, giving the county 139 total deaths.

The county, the state said, also reported 14 new cases (nine confirmed and five probable), giving the county a cumulative total of 6,513 cases (5,178 confirmed and 1,335 probable).

Mercer County, the state said, reported 11 new cases (seven confirmed and four probable), giving the county a cumulative total of 8,316 cases (6,603 confirmed and 1,713 probable). The county’s total deaths stand at 243.

Statewide statistics

-The state on Friday reported 3,074 new statewide positive cases, 422 more than the number reported Thursday, raising the cumulative total to 961,456 cases (823,969 confirmed and 137,487 probable). There are 25,572 cases among health care workers.

– Statewide there were 40 new deaths reported Friday, raising the total to 24,530, the state said.

– Statewide there are 1,494 individuals with COVID-19 who are hospitalized, and 320 of those patients are in intensive care units, according to the state.

Care facilities

– Statewide data on nursing and personal care facilities shows there are now 68,411 resident cases and 13,747 cases among employees for a total of 82,158 cases at 1,559 distinct facilities in all 67 counties.

– The state said there are a total of 12,754 deaths that have been reported from nursing and personal care facilities.

Area Health Systems

– Butler Health System on Friday reported Clarion Hospital had collected 12,241 specimens for COVID-19 testing through Thursday, including 10,369 tests at the hospital’s outdoor collection site. A total of 1,948 tests were positive for the virus.

As of Friday, the hospital has two COVID-19 in-patients one confirmed and one suspected).
