Forest County commissioners on Wednesday approved an overhauled version of the county pay and promotion policy.

Commissioners chairman Mark Kingston said the county has raised the base rate of pay for many county jobs.

Commissioner Bob Snyder said the county has changed its hiring policy to go from having a range of pay to having a base rate that can be adjusted based on experience, training, and qualifications for the job.

“We looked at other counties’ policies and took what was best in them,” Snyder said.

In other business at Wednesday’s meeting, Kingston said the county continues to move forward with its broadband project.

Currently, the county is getting land leases signed for the broadband towers the county is working to put up after environmental reviews are done on those sites, Kingston said.

“The towers will hopefully be up sooner rather than later. Several poles (for broadband) are also going up,” Kingston said.

Snyder also said he attended a meeting with the Clarion County Task Force about the ambulance situation in the region.
