Two Lucinda residents killed in Ohio crash

From staff reports

A Lucinda man and woman were fatally injured in a motorcycle accident Tuesday in Girard City, Ohio.

Donald Snyder, 71, was driving a 1992 Honda Goldwing tricycle on Interstate 80 in the middle lane of the road at about noon when he swerved his vehicle to avoid debris on the road, the Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The tricycle overturned into the left lane of the road, ejecting Snyder and his passenger, Christina Borton, 55, the Highway Patrol said.

A semi-truck in the left lane struck Borton and Snyder and the tricycle, according to the Highway Patrol.

Borton was pronounced dead at the scene, and Snyder died of his injuries at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, the Highway Patrol said.

The driver of the semi-truck wasn’t injured, the Highway Patrol said.

Snyder and Borton were co-owners of Chris and Red’s Discount Variety in Lucinda.

Snyder also owned Midway Auction Barn and was part owner of S & W Autobody, where he spent most of his life as a mechanic.
