Tri-county area adds 14 virus cases

The state Department of Health on Friday announced 14 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from the tri-county area, as well as one additional virus-related death from Clarion County.

The new death reported from Clarion County raises its total deaths to 79, according to the state.

Clarion County, the state said, also reported five new cases (four confirmed and one probable), Venango County reported eight new cases (seven confirmed and one probable), and Forest County reported one additional probable case.

Clarion County, the state said, now has a cumulative total of 2,582 cases (1,694 confirmed and 888 probable).

Venango County, the state said, now has a cumulative total of 3,225 cases (2,622 confirmed and 603 probable). The county’s total number of deaths stands at 78.

Forest County, the state said, now has a cumulative total of 1,359 cases (1,305 confirmed and 54 probable). The county’s total number of deaths stands at 19.

Elsewhere in the region

Mercer County, the state said, reported one additional virus-related death on Friday, giving the county 235 total deaths.

The county, the state said, also reported 23 new cases (19 confirmed and four probable), giving the county a cumulative total of 7,766 cases (6,237 confirmed and 1,529 probable).

Crawford County, the state said, reported one additional virus-related death, giving the county 133 total deaths.

The county, the state said, also reported 18 new confirmed cases and converted one probable case to confirmed, giving the county a cumulative total of 6,149 cases (4,931 confirmed and 1,218 probable).

Statewide statistics

– The state on Friday reported 3,987 new statewide positive cases, nine more than the number reported Thursday, raising the cumulative total to 888,256 cases (768,085 confirmed and 120,171 probable). There are 24,093 cases among health care workers.

– Statewide, there are 2,687 individuals with COVID-19 who are hospitalized, and 538 of those patients are in intensive care units, according to the state. Most of the patients hospitalized are age 65 or older.

– Statewide, there were 99 new deaths reported Friday, raising the total to 22,959 the state said. Most of the cumulative deaths have occurred in individuals age 65 or older.

Care facilities

– A nursing and personal care facilities list, a cumulative table compiled by the state that is updated daily shows Clarion county subtracted one resident case, and added one employee case and one death. The county now has 237 resident cases, 105 employee cases and 41 deaths among six unnamed facilities.

Venango County, the state said, added one employee case. The county now has 253 resident cases, 46 employee cases and 30 deaths among nine unnamed facilities.

Forest County, the state said, holds at 121 resident cases, 26 employee cases and 22 deaths at one unnamed facility.

– Statewide data on nursing and personal care facilities shows there are now 65,224 resident cases and 12,648 cases among employees for a total of 77,872 cases at 1,556 distinct facilities in all 67 counties.

– The state said there are a total of 11,990 deaths that have been reported from nursing and personal care facilities.

Area health systems

– Butler Health System on Friday reported Clarion Hospital had collected 11,681 specimens for COVID-19 testing through Thursday, including 9,886 tests at the hospital’s outdoor collection site. A total of 1,872 tests were positive for the virus.

As of Friday, BHS said, the hospital has four COVID-19 in-patients (three confirmed and one suspected). There are no COVID-19 patients in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
