Students place in HOSA competition

The Clarion County Career Center is pleased to announce two allied health science students placed in the top three in their respective competitions at the HOSA State Leadership Conference held March 8 through March 10, in Lancaster.

The results qualify them to participate in the HOSA International Leadership Conference which will be held in June in Orlando, Fla.

Amanda Booher, a 12th grader from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School, placed second in nursing assisting.

She also competed last year and placed third in this same state competition and attended the 2016 international conference in Nashville, Tenn.

Booher placed tenth against students from the United States and other countries.

Becca Smith, an 11th grader at Keystone High School, placed third in medical terminology. This will be her first time to participate in the international competition.

Six allied health students from the career center participated in the state conference.

They areTricia Hall and Amanda Booher from Allegheny-Clarion Valley; Kaydee Songer and Kyli Winters from Clarion-Limestone; Becca Smith from Keystone and Jasmine Wiser from Union.

The students were accompanied by their instructor, Traci Wildeson.
