Ruffed Grouse Society plans alder renewal at Tionesta Lake

From staff reports

Volunteers with the Ruffed Grouse Society are planning the renewal of alder for wildlife at Tionesta Lake in the coming weeks.

Tentative dates planned for the alder renewal are two Saturdays — Feb. 24 and March 30. The March 30 date will only be used if the project isn’t finished on Feb. 24 or if another day is needed because of poor weather.

Volunteers for the project are asked to contact Jed Hamberger at jedhamberger@gmail.com

No special skills are needed, and Tionesta Lake staff will be working alongside volunteers to support the renewal effort.

The meeting spot will be the parking lot of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church at 2048 German Hill Road in Tionesta.

Volunteers should be at the parking lot by 10 a.m. and plan on two to three hours of work.

The Ruffed Grouse Society will furnish any needed equipment.
