Playing cards showcase Clarion County

From staff reports

CLARION – Clarion Free Library “stacked the deck” with a winning proposition for the community and is selling custom playing cards, showcasing the rich history of Clarion County. These cards are available just in time for holiday gift-giving.

The keepsake deck of playing cards features over 50 historical scenes from throughout Clarion County and a description of the landmark or event.

“The cards are a beautiful and practical way to showcase our regions rich history” stated Crystal Jewell, board member of Friends of the Clarion Free Library.

Many of the photographs used in the deck of cards were borrowed from the collection of local author and historical Kevin Beichner.

The Friends of the Clarion Free Library sold card sponsorships for various amounts to local businesses to offset the cost to produce the cards. All proceeds from the sale of the cards benefit the Clarion Free Library.

“The feedback so far has been incredible. I have heard from many families excited to give these decks of cards as stocking stuffs, to residents in nursing homes, as teacher gifts and to extended family members both near and far,” explained Dan Parker, executive director of Clarion Free Library.

Decks of cards will be available this fall and through the holiday season at the Clarion Free Library and various other businesses in Clarion County for $12.
