OC man waives hearing on Clarion robbery charges

From staff reports

An Oil City man accused of breaking into a Clarion woman’s home and threatening her with a handgun in March waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday in Clarion County court.

Charges against Nathan Harbison, 26, will now be bound over for further proceedings in the Court of Common Pleas.

A criminal complaint filed through District Judge Duane Quinn’s office said Harbison and a juvenile went to a woman’s apartment in the early hours of March 17 on South Second Avenue in Clarion.

The woman said Harbison entered the residence and asked, “Where’s the safe?” several times, the complaint said.

When the woman said she didn’t have one, she said Harbison pushed her and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t open the safe, the complaint said.

The woman said Harbison lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waistband, and she grabbed a kitchen knife and chased both Harbison and the juvenile from the apartment, the complaint said.

Harbison ran into the woods and the juvenile went back to his apartment, the complaint said.

The juvenile later told state police that Harbison and two other individuals were at the juvenile’s apartment on South Second Avenue on March 16, the complaint said.

The juvenile told police he had a BB gun in his closet and that Harbison took it sometime in the night, the complaint said.

Harbison was charged with five felony counts of robbery and three felony counts of burglary, in addition to misdemeanor counts of simple assault, terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person.

He remains in the Clarion County jail on $50,000 bail.
