No one hurt in 3-vehicle crash

From staff reports

No one was injured in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Route 322 in Ashland Township, Clarion County.

Clarion state police said Eric S. Conant, 35, of Titusville, was headed west with three passengers in a 2017 Ford Escape at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday near Whitehill Road, police said.

Police said Conant’s vehicle crossed the center line as he rounded a curve and struck a 2011 Ford F550 driven by Herbert H. Garland, 40, of Youngwood. The left front bumper and fender of Conant’s vehicle struck the driver’s side door of Garland’s vehicle, police said.

Conant’s vehicle continued west for about 160 feet before it crossed over the westbound lane of Route 322 and struck an embankment, police said. The vehicle then traveled another 150 feet along the embankment before coming to rest, police said.

The initial impact of the two vehicles caused a tire on Conant’s vehicle to be knocked loose and the tire continued to travel west, police said. The tire struck the left front fender of a 2010 GMC Sierra driven by Wayne D. Johns, 55, of Knox, as Johns traveled east on Route 322, police said.

Conant’s vehicle sustained extensive damage, Garland’s vehicle was moderately damaged, and Wayne’s vehicle sustained minor damage.

Conant was cited for careless driving.
