NC Academic Decathlon team wins regionals

The North Clarion Academic Decathlon Team competed at Seneca Valley at the regional competition Feb. 3 and the team earned first place in small schools.

The team members earned 34 individual medals as they earned medals in every event and had each team member earn at least one medal.

Below are the team members and their medal winnings.

Brandon Ochs had the highest score on the team and won six medals: he gold medals in essay, economics, and mathematics; and silvers in art, literature and science.

Sophia Wise earned seven medals: gold medals in economics and science; silver medals in music, art, and literature; bronze medals in speech and social science.

Kaitlyn Zona earned five medals: gold medals in speech and mathematics; bronze medals in art, literature, and economics.

Jack Maxwell earned four medals: gold medals in art, literature, and interview; silver medal in science.

Sarah Zona earned three medals: gold medals in art and speech; silver medlas in literature.

Eva Beck earned three medals: bronze medals in art, interview, and speech.

Allison Ochs earned three medals: gold medals in economics and math; bronze medal in science.

Gwen Griebel earned two medals: bronze medals in music and economics.

Jack Pappas earned one medal: silver medal in interview.

The team will be moving on to states next month for a chance to earn a spot at Nationals.
