KNOX – Knox American Legion Post 720 and the Serviceman’s Club of Knox made a $25,000 capital gift to the Clarion County YMCA’s campaign to build a new full-service YMCA.

Presenting the donation were Bill Altman, Post Commander; Jesse Kelley, branch manager of Clarion County YMCA; Don Hahn, Adjunct and Bill Black, director.

“We are pleased to be able to support the new YMCA that will serve all of Clarion County,” said Altman.

Most of the campaign commitments are from local community businesses, families, and service organizations such as the Knox American Legion that have made substantial donations.

The full-service Clarion County YMCA will be built near exit 62 of Interstate-80 and the Clarion Oaks Golf Course.

The new project will include a swimming pool that will provide lap and therapy, swimming lessons and other year-round recreation activities. An official groundbreaking is expected in 2016 and completion of the project is forecast within approximately 12 to 18 months from groundbreaking.
