Knox food pantry is in need of more support

From staff reports

The Knox Caring Cupboard was founded and is operated by the many churches in the Keystone School District, operating as the Knox Ministerium.

The cupboard is open to serve needy residents of the Keystone School District. Clients fill out a brief form to show proof of residency in the Keystone School District.

Non-perishable food and other necessities are distributed from 10 a.m. to noon on the third Thursday of the month. The cupboard is located in the basement of the Edenburg Presbyterian Church, Main Street in Knox, where it has operated since it began serving the community.

Edenburg donates the heated space for the cupboard, and volunteers from the community assist with stocking shelves and assisting the clients pick out their grocery needs. Carry-out service is available if needed.

In order to continue with this mission, they are calling on community members, businesses, charitable organizations and churches to assist with monetary donations.

Their funds are very low at this time due to serving from 65 to 90 families per month. All donations are used to purchase food and grocery items for the clients. Money is spent locally and they are able to purchase in bulk quantities at a discount.

Contributions can be made payable to the Knox Caring Cupboard and mailed to David Parsh, 1473 State Route 208, Emlenton, Pa. 16373.
