Here’s a look at Horsethief Week events

KNOX – The Knox Horsethief Committee has released the following activities for Horsethief Days (Aug. 13-20)

Saturday, Aug. 13

  •  8 a.m.: Softball tournament at Knox ball fields. Pre-registration and mandatory meeting for all team captains Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Knox Fire Hall. Contact Jason McMillen for more information at (814) 221-8310.

Sunday, Aug. 14

  •  8 a.m.: Softball tournament.
  •  2 p.m.: Gokit soap box racing on south Main Street.
  •  5 p.m.: Community picnic at Knox Community Park. Hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a covered dish.
  •  6:30 p.m.: Vesper service at Knox Community Park. Special music provided by Stuck in the Grass.

Monday, Aug. 15

  •  7 p.m.: Games of chance at the Rod & Gun Club. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 16

  •  6 p.m.: Chili cook-off at the Rod & Gun Club. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Wednesday, Aug. 17

  •  5 p.m.: Tractor race registration and meeting.
  •  5-7 p.m.: Rod & Gun Club Community Picnic. Held at Rod & Gun Club.
  •  6 p.m.: Tractor race.
  •  7 p.m.: Music by The Wrangler Band performed on the Main Street stage.

Thursday, Aug. 18

  •  9-10 a.m.: Senior Citizens Free Breakfast at the Edenburg Presbyterian Church.
  •  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Community yard sales.
  •  9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Knox Public Library used book sale.
  •  5 p.m.: Chicken and ribs BBQ at Rod & Gun Club.
  •  5 p.m.: Cornhole tournament registration at 512 Main.
  •  6 p.m.: Cornhole tournament held on Main Street.
  •  6 p.m.: Hay rides by Joe, Susan and Will Rupert.
  •  7 p.m.: Music by Double Take on the Main Street stage.
  •  8 p.m.: Bed Race and Obstacle Course Challenge held on Main Street.

Friday, Aug. 19

  •  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Community yard sales.
  •  9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Knox Public Library used book sale.
  •  4 p.m.: Steak cookout at the American Legion.
  •  4-7 p.m.: Farmers Market at Knox Community Park.
  •  4:45 p.m.: Lions bike race sign-up.
  •  5 p.m.: Lions bike race.
  •  6 p.m.: Lake Erie Garden Tractor Pulls. Held behind the Knox Fire Hall. Registration begins at 5 p.m.
  •  6-7 p.m.: Power Wheels Derby, held north of the Main Street stage.
  •  6:30-8 p.m.: Knox Public Library Open House.
  •  7 p.m.: Legion Riders Chapter 720 Bike Night. Held south of the Main Street stage.
  •  7 p.m.: Music by Cubs performed on the Main Street stage.
  •  7-11 p.m.: Entertainment performing at the Rod & Gun Club. Open to members and their guests only.

Saturday, Aug. 20

  •  7-10:30 a.m.: Edenburg Lodge Breakfast. Held in the lodge building on State Street, upstairs beside Knox Video. Buckwheat pancakes and sausage will be served.
  •  7:30-10:30 a.m.: Breakfast at the Rod & Gun Club.
  •  9 a.m.: Firemen’s Hot Sausage Stand open on Main Street.
  •  9 a.m.: Jeep Invasion held behind Knox Fire Hall.
  •  9 a.m.: Horseshoe tournament held at Renninger’s Ice Cream Parlor. Contact Doug Weaver at (814) 498-2340 for information.
  •  9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Knox Public Library used book sale.
  •  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Street sales for crafts and food vendors.
  •  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Vendor and craft sale at the Rod & Gun Club.
  •  10 a.m.: Lions chicken BBQ available in the fire hall.
  •  10 a.m.: Games of chance at the Rod & Gun Club.
  •  11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: John Winkler Memorial Car Cruise and Tractor Show.
  •  12-3 p.m.: Games of chance sponsored by SMILES at the old bank.
  •  4:30 p.m.: Line up for Power Wheels, Pedals and Paws Parade begins by Knox borough building.
  •  4:45 p.m.: Powers Wheels, Pedals and Paws Parade.
  •  5 p.m.: Citizen of the Year recognition. Baby Contest winners announced.
  •  5:30 p.m.: Firemen’s Parade. American Idol contestant Isaac Cole will perform before and after parade on the Main Street stage. An ice cream social will follow at the Knox United Methodist Church.
  •  7 p.m.: Keystone soccer scrimmage held at Keystone High School. Concessions will be available.

After dark Aug. 20, fireworks will be lit on the Keystone High School football field.

Wednesday through Saturday, there will be daily food vendors, street games and music.

This schedule is subject to change. Event attendees are asked to bring seating to events. Horsethief shirts can be purchased in Knox at 512 Main, Hobbiest Paradise, KGC Credit Union and the Rod & Gun Club.
