Forest commissioner gives update on 911 tower shelter

Forest County commissioners held their first meeting in the county’s new annex building Wednesday.

Commissioner Bob Snyder said at the meeting the county is in the process of replacing the concrete shelter at the Marienville 911 tower.

The county outgrew the previous shelter, Snyder said.

The new shelter has been set in place and is finished on the inside, but the cables and equipment have yet to be transferred, Snyder said.

Snyder said the new shelter was purchased with money out of the county’s 911 funds.

In other business Wednesday, the commissioners approved a request by the county transportation department to purchase a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse.

The vehicle would be used by the county to transport senior citizens, Snyder said.

Commissioners also approved paying the bills and taking care of routine matters.

The commissioners will next meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the conference room at the new annex building. Commissioners are now meeting on the first and third Wednesdays of the month instead of the first and third Thursdays.
