Flags for the Fallen scheduled Wednesday

From staff reports

Clarion University’s Venango Campus will hold its Flags for the Fallen beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The annual Veterans Day program is an event dedicated to the state’s military members who sacrificed their lives during Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The 296 flags are placed in front of Suhr Library as a memorial to each one of the state’s fallen members of the military.

Flags dotting the campus represent residents from Pennsylvania who fought and died in all wars.

The “Walk of Remembrance” is the flag-lined sidewalk between Frame and Montgomery Hall.

Keynote speaker will be retired Marine Lt. Col. Daniel B. Smith, who is currently an adjunct faculty member of Clarion’s Department of Management & Marketing. The Venango Campus Veterans Club is the program’s sponsor.

Recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention will be followed at the outdoor event. All attendees must wear face masks.
