Fisher vendor fair a big success

The northern Clarion County community of Fisher came alive Saturday (July 29) for the inaugural Millcreek Volunteer Fire Department’s Vendor and Artisan Show.

“This is a community event so the registration fee went to the fire department and the basket raffle proceeds went to the Presbyterian Church and the sportsmen’s club,” said Stephanie Smith, the coordinator of the show. “We just wanted to bring people into our community.”

“Everything will lean toward Fisher” again on Aug. 5 for the 75th annual Fisher Homecoming.

“We are trying something new this year, a 5K,” said Smith. “There will be a classic car cruise, bingo and our church dinner.”

To register for the 5K, go to the Millcreek Township Volunteer Fire Department website at station590.online.

The car cruise will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. which will also include motorcycles, trucks, tractors, side-by-sides, and antiques with registration at 10 a.m.

Additionally, there will be a Chicken BBQ, games, raffles, music and gift.

Smith said a lot of former residents return to Fisher for the event. “It seems that if you blink you miss Fisher but there a lot of people who live on the back roads,” said Smith.

A souvenir tee shirt has images of the old Fisher store, the Presbyterian Church and other local scenes.

“We wanted to give people something to remember Fisher,” said Smith.
