First Presbyterian Church provides ‘Blessing Box’

From staff reports

A Blessing Box has been installed at the First Presbyterian Church located at 700 Wood Street in Clarion. A Blessing Box is a small structure that community members can place nonperishable food items in.

Anyone in the community who is in need of food

may help themselves to food in the box the concept is similar to a Little Library.

Blessing Boxes can be found nationwide as part of the movement to help solve food insecurity. There are many reasons a person might need to utilize a Blessing Box

including people on fixed incomes and those who have had a life event or change in circumstances.

Tionesta Builders donated the materials for the Blessing Box and Johnny on the Spot Handyman Services & Contracting built and installed the Blessing Box.

There are a couple of ways the community can help with this program. If you have unexpired non-perishable food or hygiene and cleaning items stop at the Blessing Box at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion and place the items in it.

If you would like to donate food items and are unable to place them in the box, please send an email to jsgriebel@gmail.com to make arrangements.

If you would like to donate funds to help replenish the Blessing Box, please send a check to the First Presbyterian Church, 700 Wood Street, Clarion, Pa. 16214 and put “Blessing Box” on the memo line.

If you have any questions about the Blessing Box or are interested in starting one in your own community, contact Jacqueline Griebel at (814) 657-5728.
