Fire destroys Fisher home

Ben Gilbert of the Sigel Volunteer Fire Departments puts up with the heat to extinguish a fire that destroyed Wendy Taylor-Chapman’s house May 31 in Fisher. Taylor-Chapman said she was sitting in her living room when she saw flashes of light coming from another room. After investigating and seeing flames, she ran outside to get a water hose but found it melted. Volunteer fire departments from Fisher, Strattanville, Limestone and Farmington townships, Sigel and Clarion all battled the fire. Along with the water in the trucks, firefighters relied on the creek behind the house to put the fire out. A state fire marshal determined the fire was electrical in nature and started in a crawl space under the home. No one was injured in the blaze. Damage and loss is estimated at $100,000. (By Brett R.
